The Platinum Card® from American Express is a more premium option. It has many exclusive rewards and perks. The hefty $695 annual fee might be worth it if you are able to pay and enjoy these perks.

For example, the great welcome offer of 100,000 Membership Rewards® points that you can get aft spending $6,000 within the first six months. You can also earn 10X points spending with eligible purchases at restaurants all over the world.

You can also earn 5X MP points if you book flights with airlines or American Express Travel (terms apply). Among other rewards, you can get hotel credit, credit for the digital entertainment options provided by Amex.

Plus, as a cardholder, you can get premium lounge access, which includes the lounges that are exclusive for cardmembers. But keep in mind that you will need a very good credit score to get this Amex card.

American Express® Gold Card gives great rewards for cardholders that need to spend a lot on everyday purchases. There is a bonus of 4X points for spendings made at restaurants and in supermarkets in the United States.

It also has the Membership Rewards® points available. And If you need to make foreign transactions, this card has no foreign transaction fees.

Even though this is not exactly a travel card, you can earn 4X points for airfare when you purchase from the airline or American Express Travel. Also, you get 1X point for all the other eligible purchases.

But you will also need a very high credit score to be able to get approved for this card. So, make sure that you have the spending power and fit the profile to get this card.
