The State Department Federal Credit Union offers a variety of financial products and services at a low cost, including checking accounts.
The three options offered feature flexibility, convenience, and even interest earnings on the Advantage and Privilege options.

Firstly, the SDFCU basic checking account requires no minimum balance, and no monthly fees are charged.
Also, the account comes with a Visa debit card, overdraft protection, free access to approximately 30,000 ATMs, a mobile app, and more.
Although it lacks free checks, free money orders, and interest earnings, it allows deposits through the mobile app.
On the other hand, if you want to earn interest, the Advantage account might be worth considering. Besides all benefits offered by a basic option, this Advantage provides 0.35% APY, free checks, and debit card fee reimbursement.
However, note that this type of account requires a minimum balance of $2,000 and a minimum direct deposit of $200 per month.
In case you want a higher interest earning, a Privilege account might be the one for you. This account offers 0.40% APY, plus all benefits offered by the advantage option and free money orders.
But, it requires a minimum of $25,000 balance and $200 as a minimum direct deposit monthly.
