How does a Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card work?
In summary, it offers one of the best welcome bonuses on the market. So, you can earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of the account opening.
Also, this Chase features anniversary bonuses and up to 5X points on eligible purchases.
In short, the reward program works as follows:

- 2X points on other purchases in the same travel category;

- 1X point on everything else.
In the second place, the card provides you with a 1:1 Point Transfer, in which you can equally transfer your points to leading travel programs like Airline and Hotel partners, such as Emirates and World of Hyatt.
Besides the protection and many travel insurance plans, this Sapphire Preferred charges no foreign transaction fees while providing 24/7 access to a Customer Service Specialist.

As shown, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card doesn’t offer complimentary airport lounge access.
However, it provides many other benefits for only a $95 annual fee. In fact, for this price, you won’t be able to find a credit card that offers lounge access.
On the other hand, you can follow some tips below to activate your premium pass at airports using your Chase card.
1. Access the Chase membership
The only way you can get complimentary access to clubs and airport lounges is by activating the membership by paying a fee of $99.
However, it is important to consider that you will still pay for other card fees.
So, make sure it is worth signing up for the membership.
2. Choose a different Chase card
An alternative way to get the lounge access you want is by selecting a Chase credit card that comes with complimentary airport lounge and club access.
But, it is crucial to know that those cards are pretty expensive, even though they come with extra premium perks.
3. Meet the Chase Sapphire Reserve
An example of a credit card that comes with the desirable complimentary priority pass at clubs and airport lounges.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve has an annual fee of $550 plus $75 for each authorized user.
Also, it offers a complimentary Priority Pass™ Select membership to more than 1,300 airport lounges in over 500 cities around the world.
In sum, after applying for this card, you can earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening.
Additionally, you can earn up to 5X points on eligible purchases and all the benefits offered by the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.
Iit only might be worth considering if you definitely want to get priority access to lounges.
Otherwise, a Sapphire Preferred may deliver what you need.
4. Activate your Airport Lounge Access
But let’s suppose you want to go with a Chase Sapphire Reserve. Then, activating your complimentary Priority Pass™ Select membership for you, authorized users, and up to two guests is easy.
Shortly, access your Chase account, and select the Card Benefits tab.
Finally, find the Airport Lounge Access and click on Activate Now.
Final considerations
Now you know how to use your Chase Sapphire Preferred for lounge access. In summary, you need to pay for an extra membership to get the complimentary benefit.
Therefore, it is worth mentioning that if you have enough money to hold a Chase Reserve card, you won’t need to pay an extra fee to access airport lounges and clubs.
On the other hand, a Sapphire Preferred provides you with almost the same benefits for a very low cost compared to the Reserve.
So, the question is: do you really need to get complimentary airport lounge access?
