Also, it is required to be eligible for the Canada child benefit (CCB) and the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). Being eligible for both benefits mentioned, the CDB is paid automatically.

In addition, it is crucial to mention that a child will be eligible for the DTC only with a medical practitioner certification. This certification needs to be filled in the Form T2201 (Disability Tax Credit Certificate).

Then, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will approve it and proceed with the benefit.

The Child Disability Benefit (CDB) provides free-tax monthly payments for families who care for a child with disabilities, whether physical or mental conditions.

The child must be under 18 years old.

Also, it is required for the family to be eligible for the following benefits:

  • Canada child benefit (CCB);
  • Disability Tax Credit (DTC).

Therefore, you must first look for a doctor who can certify that your child has severe or prolonged impairments. After that, the medical practitioner needs to fill out the document Form T2201 – Disability Tax Credit Certificate.

This document will be approved by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

In addition, you must apply for the Canada Child Benefit through email, website via My Account at the Canada Revenue Agency, or birth registration.

Being approved for both benefits listed above guarantees that you will automatically receive the Child Disability Benefit.
